How much money would be willing to place on a sports game?

Do you think that sport gambling should be legal? If so, why?

How do you think this new legislation will effect the world of sports?

  1. I don't think sports gambling will affect games that much. Teams can make rules that stop players from betting on games but for the general public it is a good thing. I also think it will increase viewership of games because people actually have stuff riding on games instead of just rooting for a team. I think for athletes this decision shouldn't change anything. There is no reason for athletes to bet on games with the big salaries they already have. Teams can and probably should make team rules that players can't bet to keep the integrity of the game. However, overall, this change is a good one for sports that in the long run will benefit every team.

  2. I have no clue how much I would be willing to put on a game. I think this because it would depend on my chances of winning the bet, whether or not its a team I like or how much money I have at the time. However if I were to bet right now the most I would put down would be $100. I think it should be legal because its similar to regular gambling and is fair as long as the players or coaches are not involved with any bet. I think that gambling on games will begin to become public because many people ignored the rules the federal government put in place.

  3. I believe that sports betting being legalized is a big development. For many people this development was inevitable and smart because it will further grow the economic aspect of the sports industry. However there are a few downsides to this. Having sports betting legalized could lead to scandals in important sports games as things like this have happened in the past. Situations where players are offered money to throw games could happen all the time and could ruin sports. For these reasons I believe that sports betting could end up having a negative effect on the industry. As it pertains to how much I would bet I don't think I would bet at all, I'm not really into gambling and especially in sports you never know what will happen.

  4. From my personal perspective, gambling is not up my alley. In light of the world and economics of the sports industry, there would only be room for negativity if gambling were to be inserted into it. However, given the hypothetical, I would only bet $50 because no win can be guaranteed due to human error- and I'm not trying to lose money for someone else's irrelevant loss. Legalizing this has potential for new branches of economical growth, however I don't think it's necessary due to the fact that sports themselves make so much. It's a stupid game to play.
